A graduation or reunion trip to Komodo: what each person pays

Reunions and graduation trips share a problem. Indonesian groups call them the reuni angkatan trip and the wisuda trip. Everyone wants to go, nobody wants to chase twelve people for money, and the budgets range from a first salary to a student allowance. A single boat solves the first two. It gives the group one total, one list of inclusions and one date.

All three boats we book stop at 14 guests. Arham Jaya 2 has 6 cabins, and each has its own bathroom. Nusantara Karya has 5 cabins, with a bathroom for every one. Segara Liveaboard has 6 rooms, and one of them, the Standard Cabin Room, shares a bathroom.

Karaoke is on all three boats, which matters more to a reunion than the itinerary does. On Nusantara Karya the karaoke area has a wall-mounted TV, speakers, a dark lounge sofa and a drinks fridge.

Here is the split for a private boat, per person, on the two routes that fit a short leave. Figures use the 2026 price list dated 27 October 2026.

Arham Jaya 2

On the 2 days and 1 night route, 10 friends pay IDR 3,750,000 (≈ USD 230) each, 12 pay IDR 3,250,000 (≈ USD 199) and 14 pay IDR 2,790,000 (≈ USD 171). Stretch it to 3 days and 2 nights and the same head counts pay IDR 4,150,000 (≈ USD 255), IDR 3,710,000 (≈ USD 228) and IDR 3,180,000 (≈ USD 195).

Nusantara Karya

The short route comes to IDR 3,800,000 (≈ USD 233) per person for 10 guests and IDR 2,860,000 (≈ USD 175) for 14. The longer route comes to IDR 4,400,000 (≈ USD 270), IDR 4,000,000 (≈ USD 245) and IDR 3,430,000 (≈ USD 210) for 10, 12 and 14.

Segara Liveaboard prices its whole boat on request. For a bunk-only budget, its sharing seat starts at IDR 2,750,000 (≈ USD 169) per person on a Monday or Friday departure. That is a separate booking, with other guests on board.

Tickets come on top of the boat total. The domestic rate is IDR 50,000 on weekdays and IDR 75,000 on weekends and holidays, and international guests pay IDR 250,000. An alumni group with a friend flying in from abroad adds that line for that friend only, and every other guest pays the domestic line.

Not in the price

• Guide and photo or video documentation: on request, each quoted on its own.
• Flights, hotel, tips, personal spending.
• Ranger and pier charges, settled on the day.

For a reunion the documentation line is worth a question, because it is the line that decides who gets the photos. Fourteen phones will take the photos either way, and a guide is worth adding if nobody in the group has been to Padar.

Name one treasurer. The booking is one invoice to one person, and we do not bill friends one by one. The deposit is 50% of the total and the balance follows 30 days before you sail. Ask your group to pay you a week earlier than that.

Cancellation is staged. A cancellation 60 days or more before departure refunds 50%, and one from 30 to 59 days refunds 25%. Closer than 30 days, the booking is not refunded. Tell the group this on day one, not after the first dropout.

Dropouts are where a split goes wrong. The whole of Arham Jaya 2 is IDR 44,500,000 (≈ USD 2,730) for any group of 11 to 14, so losing three friends from 14 leaves the total untouched and raises every share. Losing four moves the boat into the 8 to 10 band at IDR 41,500,000 (≈ USD 2,546), and each share goes from IDR 3,180,000 (≈ USD 195) to IDR 4,150,000 (≈ USD 255).

One way to lower the cost

Fly in the day before sailing. A canceled or delayed flight can eat the first morning, and a 2 day trip has little to spare.

A class of 16 or 20 cannot go on one of these boats. The ceiling is 14 on each, and we do not offer 15. The options are two boats on the same dates, each priced on its own, or two separate dates.

Two boats split the class naturally into two cabin groups, but they sail the same route and the captain decides the order of stops on the day. Where each boat anchors is its captain's call. If the class wants one shared dinner, say so when you ask.
