Guides for planning a group trip on a Komodo boat

Updated 27 October 2026

These Komodo private boat planning guides cover the four decisions a group of up to 14 has to settle: how to read a quote, how to split cabins and costs, what to check on safety, and which 2027 dates to pick. Each guide is dated and names its sources.

Four guides for the four decisions

Every group trip gets stuck on the same four things. Someone has the quote and nobody has read it. Someone has to split the bill. Someone asks whether the boat is safe. Someone asks which week. Each has a guide, and each guide is written for a group of 10 to 14.

  • How to read a charter quote. The six lines a quote must show, what it leaves out, and how to compare two quotes fairly.
  • How to split cabins and costs. Bunks for four, doubles for couples, an equal split or a cabin split, and one name that holds the booking.
  • A boat safety checklist. What to check on any boat in Labuan Bajo, and the questions to ask any owner.
  • The 2027 holiday planner. The long weekends from the government's decree and which Monday or Friday start fits each.

Start with the quote guide if you have a price in hand. Start with the planner if you only have a week in mind.

Dates and sources behind each guide

These four are dated and sourced, and they carry no estimates.

Every guide ends with its sources named in plain text: the site, the document and the date. Every price is dated 27 October 2026. Park tickets come from Government Regulation PP 36/2024. The 2027 planner uses the joint decree of three ministers signed on 15 September 2026.

A price you see in a guide is the price on the boat pages.

Read the quote guide before you collect any deposit from your group. A single missing line, such as the guest band, changes a total after the money has moved.

What the guides do not cover

These guides are about the boat, the bill and the date. They stop where other pages begin.

  • Flights, visas and money in Indonesia are on the page about getting to Labuan Bajo.
  • Hotel nights, flights and pickup in Labuan Bajo are on the hotels page.
  • Park ticket amounts and what the group pays in total are on the park fees page.

There are no drone, photography, diving or couples guides on this site. We book three boats for groups who split a bill, and we write about that.

If your question is not here, ask it on WhatsApp. If enough groups ask the same thing, it becomes a guide.

FAQ

Who writes the guides?

The team at PT Komodo Explorer Indonesia in Labuan Bajo, the booking partner for Arham Jaya 2, Nusantara Karya and Segara Liveaboard. We write what groups ask us most, and we cite the source of each number in plain text.

Are the guides updated?

Yes. Each guide carries a last-check date, 27 October 2026 for this edition. Prices inside them match the boat pages, and holiday and policy facts are re-checked against their sources when they change.

Do the guides cover park tickets?

They name them, and the park fees page has the amounts. The ticket is IDR 50,000 per Indonesian guest on a weekday, IDR 75,000 on a weekend and IDR 250,000 per international guest. It is never inside a private charter fare.

Do you have a packing list?

Not as a guide. Bring shoes with grip for Padar and Kelor, reef-safe sunscreen, a head torch, personal medicines and some cash for tips and small purchases. The boats provide snorkeling gear and life jackets.
