Day 1 begins at Kelor and ends at Kalong

Day one is the gentle one. After boarding at the Labuan Bajo harbor, the boat sails 50 to 70 minutes to Kelor. It is a small hilly islet with a short, steep path to a viewpoint over the bay. The climb takes 15 to 30 minutes, so the whole group is back on deck for lunch.

The afternoon goes to Manjarite Beach, a swim and snorkel stop with the mask and snorkel from the boat's own gear. Then comes Kalong, a mangrove islet between Komodo and Rinca where thousands of flying foxes roost.

Bats leave the mangroves about 15 minutes after sunset and stream out over about 30 minutes. Sunset at Kalong falls between 17:49 and 18:27 depending on the month; in June it is 17:50. Nobody lands at Kalong. The group watches from the deck, with dinner on board.

Pickup time is agreed on WhatsApp when you pay the deposit.

Day 2 packs five stops from Padar to Manta Point

Day two is the full one, and it is the reason a group picks three days over two. It stacks Padar, Pink Beach, Komodo Island, Taka Makassar and Manta Point, and the last two come late in the afternoon.

Padar goes first. Guests leave the boat before sunrise, and the climb to the main viewpoint takes 25 to 45 minutes. Sunrise there is 06:18 in July and 05:31 in November, so take a head torch. Pink Beach follows for a snorkel of 45 to 90 minutes over reef that sits close to shore.

Then Komodo Island. Ranger-guided treks start at the Loh Liang station, and no one walks the trails without a park ranger. Treks run 45 to 120 minutes, and dragon sightings are not guaranteed.

After lunch the boat reaches Taka Makassar, a sandbank that shows at low tide, and Manta Point, where the current is strong and the snorkeling suits confident swimmers. Sightings of mantas are not guaranteed. Tide decides which of the two comes first. On day two the boat sails 20 to 90 minutes between stops.

Day 3 stop and the return to the harbor

Day three starts with breakfast on board and one last snorkel at Sebayur Island, a larger island near Flores with beaches and reef close by.

Sebayur sits 90 to 120 minutes by boat from Labuan Bajo, so the boat heads home soon after the swim. On the Nusantara Karya private charter the drop-off at the harbor is at 12:00. On the other two boats the time is agreed on WhatsApp with the deposit.

Plan your flight home for after 14:00, not the morning. Ask the group who has an afternoon flight and who has an early one before you fix the date.

Per-head price of the 3D2N boat at 10, 12 and 14

Start with one number: the whole boat, and you divide it by the head count. On Arham Jaya 2, 12 guests share IDR 44,500,000 (≈ USD 2,730), which is IDR 3,710,000 (≈ USD 228) each. At 14 guests the same boat costs IDR 3,180,000 (≈ USD 195) each.

Nusantara Karya has 12 guests sharing IDR 48,000,000 (≈ USD 2,945), or IDR 4,000,000 (≈ USD 245) each, and IDR 3,430,000 (≈ USD 210) each at 14. The charter page has the share at every group size from 2 to 14.

Segara Liveaboard follows the same 3D2N route. Its whole-boat price is on request, so we give no figure here. Its seats on the Monday and Friday departures are priced per person on its own pages.

Saving tip: count heads before you pick the boat. Arham Jaya 2 rises in price at 5, 8 and 11 guests. Nusantara Karya has one price up to 10 guests and one for 11 to 14. A group of 9 pays the same as a group of 10.

Where the boat sleeps and who decides

Where the boat spends the night depends on the weather and the captain's decision that day. That sentence covers the whole route, too. The captain decides the order of stops and the anchorage on the day, and clouds and haze change the plan.

This map shows the stops as an example route, without a fixed order. Treat it as the shape of the trip: Kelor and Kalong in the north-east, Padar and Komodo in the middle, Manta Point and Taka Makassar in the south, Sebayur to finish.

Two stops depend on the tide, Taka Makassar and Manta Point. If the tide is wrong for one, the captain swaps them rather than skipping. If your group has its heart set on one stop, tell us before paying. Rinca is not on our routes.

Pack, tickets and the honest limits

Park tickets and ranger fees are not in the fare. The ticket is paid per person: IDR 50,000 for a domestic guest on a weekday, IDR 75,000 on a weekend and IDR 250,000 for an international guest. Ranger and pier charges are paid separately on the day.

On a private charter the guide and the photo and video documentation are not included either. Both are available on request and quoted separately.

In the price: pickup and drop-off, air-conditioned cabins, three meals a day with the chef and crew, snorkeling gear and life jackets. Not in it: flights, your hotel, personal spending and tips. The price page has the full lists.

Pack shoes with grip for Kelor, Padar and Komodo, a head torch for Padar, a hat and reef-safe sunscreen for Taka Makassar, and a light layer for Kalong.
