How to read a Komodo boat charter quote
Updated 27 October 2026
How to read a Komodo boat charter quote: find six lines, namely the boat, the route, the guest band, the dates, what is included and what is not. Park tickets, from IDR 50,000 per Indonesian guest on a weekday, are never inside a private charter fare, so a sound quote lists them on their own line.
The lines every quote should show
A quote is a short list, and every line answers a question your group chat will ask later. Before anyone sends money, find these six lines and read each one aloud.
- Boat and route. The boat's name, and whether it is 2 days 1 night, 3 days 2 nights or 4 days 3 nights.
- Guest band. The head count the whole-boat price was worked out for.
- Dates. The day you board and the day you return, in writing.
- Whole-boat price. One figure for the boat, not a figure per person.
- Deposit and balance. 50% confirms the date and the rest is due 30 days before departure.
- Included and not included. Two separate lists, never one blended sentence.
The second line is the one groups skip. A quote that does not name the guest band can change after the deposit, because the whole-boat price moves with the head count. Ask for the band in writing and keep that message.
A seat on a Monday or Friday departure follows the same logic with a cabin in place of a band. The quote should name the cabin and the fare per person.
What a quote leaves out
Most arguments after a trip come from the lines nobody asked about. On all three boats the same items sit outside the fare, and a good quote says so beside the total.
Here is the short version. The price page has the full lists for each boat.
- Not in the price: park tickets (IDR 50,000 per Indonesian guest on a weekday, IDR 75,000 on a weekend, IDR 250,000 per international guest), ranger and pier charges paid on the day, flights, your hotel in Labuan Bajo, personal expenses and tips.
- Not in a private charter: a guide and photo or video documentation. Both are available on request and quoted separately.
- In the price: the boat, the crew, three meals a day, snorkeling gear, life jackets and free pickup in Labuan Bajo.
On a seat, the tour guide and documentation are included on all three boats.
Check the head count on the quote
The whole-boat price steps up at fixed head counts. Arham Jaya 2 has four bands: 1 to 4, 5 to 7, 8 to 10 and 11 to 14 guests. Nusantara Karya has two: 1 to 10 and 11 to 14. Both stop at 14.
That shape changes how you read a number. A group of 9 on Nusantara Karya pays the same whole-boat price as a group of 10, which is IDR 44,000,000 (≈ USD 2,699) for 3 days 2 nights. A group of 11 pays the next band, IDR 48,000,000 (≈ USD 2,945).
On Arham Jaya 2 a group of 8 and a group of 10 share one band at IDR 41,500,000 (≈ USD 2,546). The tenth guest costs the group nothing extra and lowers every share.
Segara Liveaboard has no published whole-boat price. It is on request, and the quote should say the band it was written for just like the others.
Ask the quote writer for the top of your band. If you are 9 on Nusantara Karya, a tenth friend is free to the boat and cuts every share.
Compare two quotes fairly
Two quotes only compare when five lines match. Change one and you are comparing a different trip.
| Line | Why it must match | What to ask |
|---|---|---|
| Route | An extra night is a different price | Same days and nights |
| Guest band | The price moves at set head counts | Same number of guests |
| Cabins | Bunks, shared bathroom and balcony change the fare | Same cabin types |
| Guide and documentation | Included on one quote, extra on the other | A yes or no in writing |
| Park tickets | Never in the fare, but sometimes added as a line | Listed apart from the total |
Then do the split. At 12 guests, Arham Jaya 2 comes to IDR 44,500,000 (≈ USD 2,730) for the boat, or IDR 3,710,000 (≈ USD 228) each. Nusantara Karya comes to IDR 48,000,000 (≈ USD 2,945), or IDR 4,000,000 (≈ USD 245) each. Park tickets go on a separate line for both.

2027 books at the 2026 price list. If a quote shows a 2027 figure, ask which price list it comes from and for the date on it.
There are no estimates, no discount codes and no ranges on this page. Segara's whole-boat price is on request, and the quote says so.
If your quote came from another company, you can still use these six lines on it. Hold the quote against them before you decide, and send us the questions it cannot answer.
FAQ
What lines should a quote have?
A quote should name the boat, the route, the guest band, the dates, the whole-boat price, the deposit and balance dates, and two lists: what is included and what is not. If the guest band is missing, ask for it before you pay the 50% deposit.
What is a guest band?
A guest band is the head count a whole-boat price was worked out for. Arham Jaya 2 has four bands: 1 to 4, 5 to 7, 8 to 10 and 11 to 14 guests. Nusantara Karya has two. A quote that does not name the band can change after the 50% deposit.
How do I compare two quotes?
Match route, guest band, cabin types, guide and documentation, and park tickets. Then divide each whole-boat price by the same head count. At 12 guests that is IDR 3,710,000 (≈ USD 228) each on Arham Jaya 2 and IDR 4,000,000 (≈ USD 245) each on Nusantara Karya.
Should I pay a deposit before the dates are confirmed?
No. Pay the 50% deposit once the quote names the boat, route, guest band and dates, because the deposit is what confirms the date. The balance follows 30 days before departure.
What is a net price?
A net price is the final fare with nothing hidden on top. Here that means the whole-boat figure includes 11 percent VAT and excludes only what the quote lists as not included: park tickets, ranger fees, flights, hotel, tips, and the guide and documentation on a private charter.
